Russian Putin Ally Reportedly Helped Fund Part of Donald Trump Jr.’s Wedding Celebrations
A ProPublica investigation says Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association and a Kremlin-decorated figure, reportedly helped fund part of Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding celebrations.
According to an investigation published Sunday by ProPublica, Umar Kremlev, described as a Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin, reportedly helped finance part of the celebrations surrounding Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding.

Kremlev reportedly paid for a private island rental in the Bahamas as well as a fireworks display, with the total cost reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Donald Trump Jr.’s wife, Bettina Anderson, pushed back on that characterization, saying Kremlev funded “the celebration,” rather than the wedding itself.

National security experts have nevertheless described the arrangement as a potential red flag, particularly as Washington and Moscow negotiate a possible peace agreement concerning Ukraine.
